Our Story
A house, named after a tree.
Solid-wood furniture, made slowly, in Jodhpur.
The jamun is one of the most familiar trees in India. It grows slowly, lives long, and produces a wood hard enough to have been used in joinery for centuries. We named the brand after it because we wanted a name that felt rooted, not borrowed. A name from this part of the world, for furniture made here.
How We Work
Most furniture is made the other way around. A piece is designed, a hundred are produced, they go into a warehouse, and they ship to whoever orders. Inventory means storage. Storage means rent. Rent means margin pressure. Margin pressure means shortcuts. Somewhere in that sequence, the wood gets thinner, the joints get faster, and the piece that arrives is not the piece that was promised.
We chose the other route. Every piece we make is built after you order it, for the room you have in mind, in the dimensions and finish you've specified. It takes longer. It costs more to run. We think it's the only way to make furniture that lasts.

Design & Selection
We walk you through wood species, dimensions, and finish. Every detail confirmed before we begin.

The Craft
The wood is solid hardwood. A piece begins as a sketch, a moodboard, or a conversation, and leaves the workshop as something you can run your hand over, live with, and hand down. The boards are selected before they enter the workshop, and the bad ones don't make it in. The finishes are layered, sanded, and re-layered until the surface stops asking for more.
This is slow work. We've made our peace with that.
The Workshop
If you can, come and see.
The workshop is in Jodhpur. Timber stacks at the back, machines in the middle, hand-finishing benches at the front, and people at every station who have been working with wood for years. You're welcome to visit. Most decisions about furniture are easier in a workshop than over email. Write to hello@jamunliving.com and we'll find a date.
