TERMS OF USE
The terms of using this site and working with us.
Plain-English terms for visitors, customers, and trade clients.
Effective from May 2026. Last updated May 2026.
What these terms cover
These terms apply to anyone using jamunliving.com ("the site") or contacting us about a piece of furniture. By using the site or writing to us, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
About us and what we do
Jamun Living is a furniture design and manufacturing business based in Jodhpur, India. We design and make solid-wood furniture to order. We do not hold retail stock and we do not sell through an online checkout. Every piece is built after a written order is placed.
Inquiries, quotes, and orders
An inquiry sent through the contact form, WhatsApp, email, or phone is not a binding order. It is an invitation for us to send you a quote.
A quote is an offer to make a specific piece (or pieces) at a specific price and timeline. Quotes are valid for 14 days from the date issued, unless we say otherwise in writing. After that, prices, materials, and lead times may change.
A binding contract is formed only when you confirm a quote in writing (by email or WhatsApp) and we acknowledge that confirmation back to you. Deposits and payment terms are agreed at the quote stage.
Lead times
Lead times in our quotes are estimates, not guarantees. We work in solid hardwood, by hand, and occasionally a piece takes longer than expected. We will tell you as soon as we know about a delay.
If a delay exceeds 30 days beyond the quoted lead time, you have the right to cancel the order and receive a refund of any deposit paid, minus the cost of materials already purchased on your behalf.
Cancellations and returns
Because every piece is built specifically for you, our policy is necessarily different from an off-the-shelf retailer.
Cancellations before production starts. You may cancel a confirmed order at any time before we begin production, with a full refund of your deposit minus a 5% administrative fee.
Cancellations after production starts. Once we have begun cutting or working the timber for your order, cancellations are at our discretion and may result in a partial refund or no refund, depending on how much work has been completed.
Returns of completed pieces. Made-to-order pieces are not generally returnable. We will, however, accept returns or arrange repair or replacement in the following cases:
- The piece has a manufacturing defect that affects its function or appearance.
- The piece does not match the specifications agreed in the quote.
- The piece arrives damaged in transit, with a signed delivery report.
Inspection window. Inspect your piece carefully on delivery. You have 7 days from delivery to notify us in writing of any defects or discrepancies. After this period, the piece is considered accepted.
Our preferred remedy. Repair or replacement, not refund. Where repair or replacement is genuinely not possible, we'll discuss a partial or full refund.
What is not covered. Changes of mind, changes of room, dimensions that don't fit where we made the piece to your specified dimensions, normal variation in natural wood grain and colour, and minor cosmetic differences from photos or samples are not grounds for return.
Shipping and delivery
We quote shipping case-by-case at the time of order. The shipping quote includes packaging, freight, and any handling charges that we are responsible for. Customs duties, taxes, and import fees are the buyer's responsibility unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Risk of damage transfers to the buyer when the piece is handed to the freight carrier. For damage in transit, please file a claim with the carrier and notify us within 7 days of delivery.
Custom designs and intellectual property
When you commission a piece, the design we create remains our intellectual property unless we agree in writing to assign it to you. You are buying the physical piece, not the design rights.
If you send us drawings, references, or photographs for a project, you confirm you have the right to share them with us, and you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use them for the purpose of producing your piece.
Everything published on this site — text, photographs, illustrations, the brand name and logo — is our property or licensed to us. You may not republish, reproduce, or use it commercially without our written permission.
Confidentiality
For trade and project clients, we offer NDAs on request. Without an NDA, we treat the broad nature of your project as confidential by professional courtesy.
Limitation of liability
Our maximum liability for any claim relating to a piece you have bought is limited to the price you paid for that piece. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost income from a delayed opening or the replacement cost of other furniture.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Site usage
You may browse the site, contact us, share pages with others, and reproduce small extracts for non-commercial purposes (such as a designer including a piece in a moodboard for a client).
You may not: scrape the site at industrial scale, copy our photography or product images for commercial use, attempt to access non-public areas, or use the site in any way that could damage it or other users.
Force majeure
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government action, transport disruptions, or major workshop incidents.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
For trade clients outside India, we are happy to agree alternative dispute resolution (mediation or arbitration) at the time of order.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects any changes. For existing orders, the terms that apply are the ones in force on the date the contract was formed.
Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms (together with any accepted quote) form the entire agreement between us on the subject they cover.
